National Workshop on “Sports Nutrition & Yoga for Performance Excellence in Sports”

St Joseph College for Women an autonomous institution at Vishakhapatnam, Andra Pradesh had organised a one day National Workshop in collaboration with Dept.of Yoga and Consciousness, Andra University, Vizag and Adhyatma Yoga Academy, Bengaluru on 30th November 2019 on the theme” Sports Nutrition and Yoga for Performance Excellence in Sports”. The National Workshop was well attended by hundreds of Sports and Yoga faculty members and student delegates from various institutions. The workshop was presided by Sister Shayji, the Principal of the college. Dr Rajasekhar from Central University of Hyderabad and Dr A Subramanian ( Subbu Bhaiya), Director of Adhyatma Yoga Academy Bangalore and Dr Surya Kumari from Hyderabad were the key resource persons. Dr Rajasekhar gave an excellent session on Sports Nutrition and it’s importance for excellence in sports performance. Yogi Subbu Bhaiya presented on the topic “Yoga for Performance Excellence in Sports” with practical tips and made the delegates experience the power of Yoga. It was as usual filled with humour and activities. One of the delegates in her feedback expressed her overwhelming experience of getting relieved of days together of stress after the Yoga practices given by Subbu Bhaiya. The college management invited Subbu Bhaiya to visit frequently and guide their students in Yogic concepts and techniques. Subbu Bhaiya also visited Ramakrishna mission, Kali Mandira, Panduranga Mandira at Vishakhapatnam and witnessed the Navy Day Training at the Naval base and had wonderful time in the clean beach. The dedicated efforts and execution of Dr Seshulatha HoD of Department of Physical Education of the College was highly appreciated by all. She chose to commemorate her retirement with this National Workshop than by a glossy party.
